Little Heart
My Dad finally got to hold Ella this past weekend (he came out earlier, but was sick and had to keep his distance). Here’s a picture of “Grandpa Menzie” with Ella. My Dad created a wonderful poem entitled “Little Heart” for Ella which I’ve included below.
Little heart
Beating in the west
I felt you before the phone rang
Telling me you were here
Little heart
Welcome from all those
Whose lives led to you
And to whom my thoughts flow
Generations’ veins
Fill us with life
My parents are peeking over my shoulder
And I share them with you
Little heart
My heart beats with yours
A little older and slower
But sharing the same life and love
